Phantom Futsal

The ultimate goal of our program is to grow confidence, skill and foster the potential of our athletes through focused training and tactical knowledge.

As all children will grow and learn at different rates, we focus on drilling the basic skills and techniques necessary to build a solid foundation for each player, while weaving in tactics based on each athletes’ growth, skill level, and perceived potential.

Coach Alberto Morales Roldan

Alberto is a native of Granada who played futsal for 8 years while living in Spain. He played for Granada’s academy for 7 of those years, making his professional debut at 17 for Huetor Vega, champions of the Spanish Third division.

After moving to the US, he played for Queens University of Charlotte for three seasons, the last two of which as captain. He was also recognized as 1st team all-conference and all-region in those seasons.

Once he graduated with a degree in Sports Management, he went on to play with the Charlotte Independence until the impact of the COVID shutdown halted play. He also competed as a forward in the brand new The Soccer Tournament for Kingdom FC this past summer while playing with some of the biggest stars in the game.

Alberto has exceptional prior experience, having taken a position as assistant coach at Queens University for three seasons between 2019 and 2022, while pursuing and completing his Masters in Education simultaneously.

He also coached at Barça Soccer Academy in Charlotte for 4 years.

We at Phantom Futsal are elated to announce Alberto as our first Head of Player Development ! Viva Alberto!

Emily McMillan, (Coach Em)

Coach Em’s passion in the game is developing technically sound, creative, fearless players. She believes that a player who doesn’t have to worry about the ball at their feet can get their head up and make better decisions both on and off the ball.

Her training is designed to supplement your team sessions by focusing primarily on individual skills, ball mastery, first touch, ball striking, and finishing, which are hard to work on in a team format with games on the weekend to worry about.

She is also a huge believer in developing strong, confident young athletes who can deal with and fight through adversity. It is not unusual to hear Coach Em talk as much about growing mentally strong as she does about being technically strong in her sessions.

Phantom School

The Phantom Futsal School was established for athletes to have the opportunity to continue to enrich their technical skills via futsal training without interfering with their outdoor clubs. The training and education program is held Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 – 3:30, with 3 hours of futsal enrichment built into each day.

It is the responsibility of the student athletes and parents to choose the educational portion via a homeschool option and plan to complete schoolwork before and after training. Phantom provides an adult monitor for the student athletes but not an educational instructor. If this is something that might fit into you and your student athlete’s goals and future plans, contact Phantom at school@phantomfutsal.com for more information.

WHY PHANTOM?
The Charlotte Metro Area has a rich and deeply ingrained soccer community. We wanted to provide an option for dedicated players who are looking for ways to improve their touch on the ball year-round, but didn’t have access to the necessary facilities. We saw an opportunity to create a futsal club that is built around the academy-level soccer schedule, that is tournament-focused, and is accessible as possible.
